Augmented Reality Blockhouse Project

The Monocacy National Battlefield Foundation has launched a fundraising campaign to create an immersive augmented reality experience that will bring to life the events that unfolded on the battlefield during the Battle of Monocacy.

This innovative project in partnership with the Monocacy National Battlefield will allow visitors to experience the battle as it happened on July 9, 1864, including the fierce fighting along the Monocacy River, the defense of the bridges and railroad crossings, and the activities that occurred around the B&O RR blockhouses at Monocacy Junction. Through augmented reality, visitors will be able to visualize troop movements, hear firsthand accounts, and gain a deeper understanding of the strategic importance of this pivotal engagement known as “The Battle That Saved Washington.”

Our goal is to raise at least $30,000 to make this educational experience a reality. By combining cutting-edge technology with historical research, we can help preserve and share the stories of the soldiers and civilians whose lives were forever changed by the battle.
